The seven counties comprising Northern Kentucky include Boone, Bracken, Campbell, Gallatin, Grant, Kenton and Pendleton. In 2011 Northern Kentucky's population totaled 429,722, an increase of 0.8 percent or 3,257 persons from 2010. During this same period, Kentucky's population grew by 0.5 percent adding 22,133 persons.
Population estimates are used in federal funding allocations, as denominators for vital rates and per capita time series, and in monitoring recent demographic changes. With each new issue of July 1 estimates, the Census Bureau revises estimates for years back to the last census.
